Paarl Royals vs Pretoria Capitals Predictions

Paarl Royals at home should have an advantage over the Pretoria Capitals, especially in the absence of star paceman Anrich Nortje, who will miss the entire SA20 season for the Capitals. The Royals have had a good warm-up on home turf and have an in-form batting and bowling line-up

Paarl Royals’ David Miller scored 356 runs in the recent Cricket World Cup.
Paarl Royals’ Jos Buttler has scored 51 & 55 in his last 3 innings.
Pretoria Capitals’ Rilee Rossouw has scored 41, 78*, 21* & 20 in his last 9 innings.
Pretoria Capitals’ James Neesham has scored 81*, 48 & 28* in his last 4 innings.

Head-to-Head

The two teams met three times in 2023, with the Royals winning the first match in Paarl. The Capitals won the following two matches, including the semi-final clash between the two sides.

Paarl Royals Form

After sneaking into the semi-final last year, the Royals restricted the Capitals to just 153/8 off their 20 overs.

Andile Phehlukwayo starred with the ball, returning 3/29 to put his side in contention for a place in the final.

The Royals never got going in their chase and were bowled out off 19 overs, with David Miller top-scoring with 31.

Paarl Royals Team News

The Royals found good form during their recent warm-up matches. Home-ground advantage will be a major advantage as they look to start their campaign with a win.

Pretoria Capitals Form

The Capitals topped the log at the end of the group stages, and put Paarl Royals away comfortably in the semi-final to claim a place in the final.

In the final, the Capitals were bowled out for 135 off 19/3 overs, with only Kusal Mendis (21) making it into the 20s.

Sunrisers raced to the win off 16.2 overs, despite excellent bowling from Anrich Nortje (2/21).

Pretoria Capitals Team News

The loss of Anrich Nortje for the entire campaign is a massive blow for the squad, especially ahead of the pace-friendly Paarl pitch.

Verdict

Paarl Royals v Pretoria Capitals

I am backing Paarl Royals to win. I am also backing David Miller to top score for Paarl Royals.

Rilee Rossouw is a good bet to top score for the Pretoria Capitals.
