Pretoria Capitals vs Paarl Royals Predictions

The Capitals topped the table last season, only to lose in the final. They kicked off this season with an away loss to a strong Royals batting lineup and will be looking to repay the favour in the return fixture at the Wanderers two days after their loss in Paarl.

Paarl Royals’ David Miller scored back-to-back 50s in warm-up matches against the Netherlands.
Paarl Royals’ Jos Buttler has scored 51 & 55 in his last 4 innings.
Pretoria Capitals’ Phil Salt has scored 109, 119, 38 & 39 in his last 4 T20 innings.
Pretoria Capitals’ James Neesham has scored 81*, 48, 28* & 21 in his last 5 innings.

Head-to-Head

The two teams have met four times over the past two years, with each side claiming two wins. The Royals won the first encounter and the Capitals won their semi-final clash last season. The Royals bounced back with a win on Friday in the opening fixture for both teams.

Pretoria Capitals Form

The Capitals lost their opening game of the campaign to an in-form Royals side by 27 runs.

The Royals posted a decent 160/7 off their 20 overs, paceman Daryn Dupavillon (2/29) returning the best figures and picking up the valuable wickets of Jos Buttler and Fabian Allen.

The Capitals could only manage 133/7 off their 20 overs, Phil Salt top-scoring with 39 including three fours and two sixes.

Pretoria Capitals Team News

The Capitals looked good with the ball against the Royals, but they need their batters to put some big scores on the board in order to start picking up some wins.

Paarl Royals Form

The Royals won their opening game of the campaign against the Pretoria Capitals by 27 runs in Paarl.

The Royals posted a decent 160/7 off their 20 overs, with skipper David Miller top-scoring with 41 off 33 balls.

The Capitals could only manage 133/7 off their 20 overs, Andile Phehlukwayo (2/29) the pick of the bowlers to add to his breezy 28* off 14 balls in the Royals’ innings.

Paarl Royals Team News

Paarl Royals are in good form and are unlikely to make any changes to their team.

Verdict

Pretoria Capitals v Paarl Royals

I am backing Paarl Royals to win. I am also backing David Miller to top score for Paarl Royals.

Phil Salt is a good bet to top score for the Pretoria Capitals.
