Defending champs the Sunrisers suffered the frustration of their opening match against the Joburg Super Kings being rained off. Durban's Super Giants picked up a superb win over MI Cape Town on the DLS method and will be eager to make it two wins on the bounce.

After beating the in-form Joburg Super Kings in the semi-final, with Sunrisers skipper Markram blitzing an unforgettable 100 off 58 balls, they went on to beat top-of-the-table Pretoria Capitals by four wickets in the final.

The Capitals were rolled for 135 with three balls in hand. Roelof van der Merwe was the destroyer-in-chief, nabbing figures of 4/31.

Adam Rossington got the chase off to a great start with 57 off 30 balls as Sunrisers raced to the win in the 17th over.

Sunrisers have brought some exciting batting talent into their squad in the shape of T20 star Dawid Malan and all-rounder Liam Dawson, while Australian Daniel Worrall’s pace will be used to keep opposition batters on the back foot.

Durban's Super Giants Form


The Giants got their season off with a thrilling win over MI Cape Town, albeit it was secured by the DLS method with the Giants well placed for the win, but in a tricky position with only four wickets in hand. 

MI Cape Town smashed 207/5 off their 20 overs, Keemo Paul returning figures of 2/31.

Heinrich Klaasen kept his side in the hunt with an astonishing innings of 85 off just 35 balls, including four fours and eight sixes. The Giants were six down but just ahead of the DLS curve when rain stopped play.

The Giants played superbly against MI Cape Town and should retain their starting lineup for this clash.
